Chow Mein Casserole

2 cans Tuna or chicken
6 oz. package chow mein noodles
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
2 cups chopped celery
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup diced green pepper (optional)
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 (8 oz.) can sliced water chestnuts
1/2 lb. cashews, cut up
1 can mushrooms, chopped


In heavy fry pan, using some melted butter, saute celery, onion, green pepper for about 20 minutes until tender. Add all other ingredients except noodles. Add 1/2 of chow mein noodles. Place in casserole, top with the rest of noodles. Do not add salt. Bake 350 F for 30 minutes.


Serves 8 people
